WEATHER IN BHUTAN

It is always best advice to check out the weather in Bhutan before going out or traveling there. The climate varies widely depending on the elevation. Rain occurs primarily during the southwest monsoon season from June to September. Low clouds hang on the hills, obscuring views and, if they are too low, forcing the cancellation of flights at Paro airport.

Climate therefore is a key factor when planning your trip to Bhutan, especially if you are trekking. The ideal time for trekking and for travelling throughout the country is autumn, from late September to late November, when skies are generally clear and the high mountain peaks rise to a vivid blue sky.

WINTER (December – February):
Noted for occasional snowfall only at higher elevations. Ideal time for trekking at lower elevations, generally below 3,000m

SPRING (March – May):
Different varieties of wild flowers, specially the rhododendrons make the hillside a haunting paradise during this season.

SUMMER (June – August):
Warm and wet travel. Excellent time for keen botanists as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with flowers and lush vegetation.

AUTUMN (September – November):
Excellent weather and tantalizing mountain views
